Description
Heritage lodge Lake Bunyonyi area South West Uganda.
Set in idyllic isolation, on the tranquil waters of Lake Bunyonyi, in Kabale District, Southern Uganda,
Ha'Buharo Island invites the traveler whose quest is rest and beauty. Lake Bunyonyi is situated in the environs of the impenetrable forest of Bwindi, and the Mgahinga mountain ranges that are famous for gorilla tracking.
It's at most, a comfortable two-hour drive, and offering an enchanting atmosphere, different from the rain forests So, whether you are a honey-moon couple, a family seeking fun and relaxation, an executive looking for a retreat venue, or simply trying to get away from it all for a few days, you are guaranteed to find Ha'Buharo a memorable interlude and therapy for your soul.
The island features self-contained family-size tents on platforms, and cottages, well spread out in to the woods and foliage, preserving the much cherished privacy.
In keeping with the environmental significance of the island, the tents and cottages are built almost exclusively of natural materials, and are solar-powered.
Running water, flush toilets and hot showers, provide added comfort.
A guest Lounge adjoins the Restaurant, and guests can relax over a coffee or after-dinner drink, a good campfire and good conversation.
NATURE WALKS:
Walk, jog or cycle round the perimeter of the island, to the sound of ripping water and birdsongs.
Extended community walks can also be arranged.
HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL TOURS:
Visiting other islands such as "Akempene", Bucuraniko and interesting cultural and natural sights, such as the Bukora Cave, the Batwa (Pygmies) and the Abaheesi (traditional black smiths) communities nearby.
SWIMMING:
The island has a swimming and diving deck, and the waters of Lake Bunyonyi are free of Bilharzia.
Lake Bunyonyi is also free from the dangers of crocodiles, hippos and other threatening animals.
BIRD WATCHING:
This is the major activity, and even from the comfort of your verandah many species can be observed. But for a greater variety of birds, a boat-ride can be arranged to the neighbouring Nyombe Swamp. On your bird watching trip you are expected to see more than 200 species of birds.
