Description

Day 1: Kampala to Fort Portal
Set off for Fort Portal via the serene beautiful town of Mubende set in gently rolling hills. You may briefly stop at Nakayima Shrine, a culturally significant tree known to be 400 years old, worshipped by local people and thought to be holding the spirit of an ancient king.
You may have lunch in Mubende en route and continue to Kibale. Arrive late afternoon. Relax at lodge or explore nearby Crater Lake or Bigodi swamps. [Approximate driving time: 6 hours]

Day 2: The Royal Palace in Fort Portal.
After breakfast we drive to the Royal Palace of Toro Kingdom.
Visit and learn about the Omukama (king) of Toro’s palace, ancient building. The palace was renovated and restored to its magnificence in the mid 2000s.
Visit Amabeere ganyna Mwiru, the locally worshipped hot springs and see ancient land form features and caves in For Portal. Visit to the Batwa Pygmies O/N: Local home or CVK Lodge managed by the locals/Chimps Nest Lodge Kibale/Kibale Primate Lodge/Kyaninga Lodge/Fort Motel (FB).
Day 3: Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast at your overnight accommodation drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, marvelling at great views of The Rwenzori Mountain ranges,famously “Mountains of The Moon” as . Continue to Queen Elizabeth National . After a relaxing drink have an evening game drive. Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park
In the morning after an early breakfast, visit Kyambura gorge to track chimpanzees, man’s closest relatives. In the afternoon have a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel which is a rewarding game viewing experience experience as the various animals come to the banks of the river to drink. Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, leave for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. We may drive via Ishasha, – where you may see tree-climbing lions - or drive through beautiful farmland to Buhoma. Day 6: Buhoma Village Tourist Walk
Enjoy the Buhoma Village Tourist Walk organised by the local community. O/N: Buhoma Lodge/Nkuringo Gorilla Camp (FB).
Day 7;
The awesome Virunga volcanoes
After breakfast, leave for Kisoro, stopping at Kanaba Gap to view the spectacular Virunga volcanoes and stunning terraced hills. Visit the natural, splendid and serene Lake Mutanda, surrounded by the volcanoes, take a walk on the shores or continue directly to Mgahinga. [Approximate driving time: 5 hours] O/N: Nkuringo Community Camp and Bandas (FB).
Day 8: The Batwa pigmies
Visit the local Batwa pygmies andexperience their cultures, traditions and lifestyles. Evening dance by the group can also be arranged. O/N: Nkuringo Community Camp and Bandas (FB).
Day 9: Mgahinga to Lake Mburo Park
After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park via Kabale. Boat trip and an evening game drive. [Approximate driving time: 6 hours] O/N: Local home (FB).
Day 10: Kampala the Capital
Time permitting, an early morning game drive. Return to Kampala via Masaka: Experience the royal drum makers, stop at the Equator for photo opportunities, and the roadside markets to buy local crafts, fruits and vegetables. You may have lunch in Masaka en-route. Visit Katereke Royal Prison, and King Wamala’s tombs, time permitting. Continue to Kampala arriving late afternoon.
