101 things to do on a Self drive safari tour of Uganda

1. Visit Uganda's National Parks, Murchison, Kidepo, Lake Mburo, Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth, for primates trekking including Chimps in Kibale and Budongo, the tree climbing lions of Ishasha Queen Elizabeth Park, boat cruises in both Murchison and Queen Elizabeth, gorilla trekking in Bwindi etc

2. Go mountain climbing at  Mountains of the moon-Rwenzori or Mount Elgon in eastern Uganda. Alternatively climb the Mgahinga volcaloes or go  mountain biking through Uganda's lush valleys and gentle hills or more specifically go mountain biking in Bwindi and Mt Elgon.

3. Visit the various cultural tribes in Uganda, including the Karimajong near Kidepo, the Batwa pygmies in Bwindi, the Baganda kabaka's place in Kasubi etc.

4. Enjoy a full traditional Ugandan experience including traditional dances by the Ndere troupe at Kampala's National theatre, traditional crafts, archery, traditional healers, food and a taste of Uganda’s local brew from the different Uganda tribes including, malwa, bwakata, waragi matooke or even taste the local delicacy of Bell beer.

5. Visit Jinja to explore the source of the Nile, go white water rafting on the grade V rapids along the mighty Nile.

6. Visit Uganda's largest lake the world's renowned Lake Victoria and its many islands and beach resorts of Ssese, Bulago and Bugala islands.

7. Enjoy walking safaris through Uganda's numerous forests including Mabira Rainforest, Budongo forest, Bwindi Impenetrable forest, Kibale forest etc.

8. Tour Kampala city and visit the various cathedrals, shrines and mosques and learn all there is to know about Uganda's capital city Kampala.

9. Explore the chimpanzee sanctuary at Ngamba Island and appreciate the work being done by the Jane Goodall institute.

10. Join a birding safari tour to experience the diversity of Uganda’s  immense birding opportunities and visit several(infact 34 in number) of Uganda’s (IBA’s) Important Birding areas and Ramsar sites notably; Lutembe Bay, Mabamba Bay, Kibale Forest National Park, Bwindi National Park and Budongo Forest, Sango Bay, Mabira Forest etc.

11. Go shopping for Ugandan crafts at one of the many local markets or Cooperatives throughout the country, especially in Kampala.

12. Go sport fishing  in Murchison Falls, Lake Mburo or Mt Elgon.

13. Go canoeing, kayaking, and wind surfing on Lake Victoria.

14. Explore the bat caves in Maramagambo Forest.
