The Maranyundo Initiative is dedicated to the continued improvement of the quality of education in Rwanda. Our focus is on building and developing a model secondary school for girls in the Nyamata region, and training teachers nationally through the launch of a Teacher Training Institute. The Maranyundo Initiative offers hope, pride, opportunity, and a uniting force for Rwanda and its young women.
Rwandan Curriculum and New Teaching Methodologies
The Maranyundo School opens its doors in early 2008. A strong partnership with leading educators around the world ensures the continual evolution and improvement of the school’s curriculum and teaching methodologies. The teachers are Rwandans who graduate from one of Rwanda’s teacher training institutes, or the equivalent, and have relevant teaching experience. Before they begin teaching at Maranyundo they undergo an intensive training program designed and taught by international faculty from one of the leading independent girls’ schools in the United States. We also have an internationally certified English teacher and a visiting teacher program for top faculty from around the world which helps keep the themes, materials and classroom experience fresh, exciting, and challenging, while providing continuous on-the-job training for the full-time Maranyundo faculty. An onsite “Teacher-Coach” provides ongoing support and guidance for the teachers.
